Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor, and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a master's degree in English literature. Mitchell was hired by KYW Radio and TV as a Philadelphia reporter in 1967. In 1976, she was a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). In Washington, she was appointed general correspondent for NBC News two year later. The year 1980 marked the beginning of her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the main congressional reporter. Mitchell became the chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as chief foreign affairs correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist for the TV program Meet the Press and also host of the show. Mitchell was a panelist in 1988's presidential debates which pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received in 2005 her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism for The John F. Kennedy School of Government. Also in 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) recognized Mitchell for her work in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the very first reporter to report on White House stories for NBC News during the time of Ronald Reagan in office from 1981 to 1988. She reported on a variety of noteworthy stories including arms control the budget tax reform and the Iran-contra scandal. She also traveled extensively together with President Reagan for summits together with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world top leaders.
