Katy Perry..........................Katy Perry original name Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, (born October 25 1984 Santa Barbara California U.S.) American pop singer who gained fame for a string of anthemic and often sexually suggestive hit songs as well as for a playfully cartoonish sense of style. Perry's early attempts at fame in mainstream music were unsuccessful. Perry was signed to two labels before being later dropped by them before the release of any music. Capitol Records did release Perry's Ur So Gay, which garnered modest attention in 2007 due to its jolly title. "I Kissed" a Girl was a more assertive ode sexism accompanied by a hard edged electronic-pop beat. I Kissed a Girls was immediately a hit but it quickly sparked controversies. Many critics argued that the track was a promotion of sexual relations between men and women, however others believed that the scene that depicted in it attracted more male fantasies. I Kissed a Girl became an international number-one single because of its mix of excitement and an elegant melody. The song also assisted her to sell more albums, such as One of the Boys. Hot N Cold's sharp, bouncy second single was also well-loved. The album that Perry wrote in large part sold more than three million copies.
